The Militia Defense Condition is similar to the alert system used by the U.S. Department of Defense to give the general public a rough scale of our nation's state of alertness between a state of peace and a State of War. It is color- coded similar to the Homeland Security Advisory System.
TotalSecurity.US partnered with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to establish and create two new phases in the Homeland Security Advisory System. The threats are categorized from low to severe levels by colors.
The existing five colors all indicate varying degrees of threat. However, the new Black signifies actual attack and Purple indicates the recovery phase. The Black state is in effect only when an attack has actually occurred and the time immediately following. The Purple state involves complete recovery and restoration of the transit service after the attack has ended. The Purple and Black state may also exist during the transition time from a higher threat condition to a lower threat condition.

The Militia Defense Condition is intended to give militia members an opportunity to assess the situational environment and determine what steps they need to take. This system applies to the militia-at-large (general public) and to the enrolled militia. This system may NOT necessarily reflect the state of alertness published by the Department of Homeland Security nor the Force Protection or DEFCON systems used by the Department of Defense. The Sons of the South Militia Defense Condition is intended to reflect the operational needs for the Militia's of South Carolina, North Carolina, & Georgia.
The operational readiness of individual members and of whole units shall be conducted in accordance with the Militia Defense Condition.
